With thousands in prize money at stake, the area's top riders are set to throw down at the biggest wakeboard competition in the region – the Bake's Northwest Wakeboard Invitational (NWI), July 26 at Renton's Coulon Park.
The fourth annual Bake's NWI, a day-long double up competition, features riders such as Bret V, Nick Jones, Chris Craig, Rob Carter and more. Prizes are awarded for 1st through 3rd place, plus Best Trick and Biggest Air.
Twelve riders will kick off the competition at 10 a.m. where each rider will be scored individually in Round 1. After all riders have completed the opening round, the Top 8 riders advance to Round 2, where they will be seeded according to their morning scores. The top rider between each match-up advances through the tournament bracket until the final.
Last year, two-time champ Bret V was judged the winner after beating Mike Ennen in head-to-head action.
The 2008 Bake's NWI judges include – Northwest filmmaker Spencer Norris (The Arrival, One Eye Shut) and Nick Ennen (Pro Wakeboarder).
The Bake's NWI is promoted during a week-long advertising campaign on local rock and alternative stations 99.9 KISW FM, 107.7 The End (KNDD) FM, and 104.9 Funky Monkey (KFNK) FM.
Spectators are invited to view the event shoreside at Coulon Park, Exit 5 from I-405, or via boat on Lake Washington.
The event is sponsored by Bake's Marine Center, Bake's Board & Ski, and BakesOnline.com
