Epic Wake Boats 23V 2009

Boat Review

Epic doesn’t build its Epic 23v as a multisport, luxury-cruising, parents-going-for-a-tour-around-the-lake kind of boat. Nope, this is just a hard-core utilitarian wakeboarding machine. It throws off a massive wake, thanks to 4,000 pounds of factory ballast. It pumps out thumping tunes to the rider with its innovative 10-speaker transom sound system, and it has dual-rudder vector steering for super-precise double-ups. Plus, with its advanced, lighter, stronger resin-infusion construction, the Epic 23v’s dry-weight is only 3,200 pounds. So you can tow this purebred with a gas-sipping V-6. Inside, it features a tough CCM-grade material in high-wear areas, cushy foam flooring and stealth LED lighting throughout. Pure and simple, this wakeboard boat is for people who want to ride.

FAVORITE FEATURE:

Ballast Tanks
Three words: Four thousand pounds. That’s an unbelievable 500 gallons of water that flood into three under-the-floor, out-of-the-way tanks. So not only do you get more weight than you’ll ever need in the Epic 23v, but you maintain all your storage space.

THE WAKES:

With more stock ballast than any other wakeboard boat in this guide, the Epic 23v’s wakes are massive with a vertical pop that makes easy work of wake-to-wake moves. The integrated trim tab helps dial in the peaks for moves into the flats, and the twin 1,500-pound rear tanks create standout surf wakes on either side of the boat.

I love the Boat but i seem to have issues with the stereo cutting out when it is turned up past 10. Also when we fill th ballast tanks and try to wake board the smart tow does not work. I dont know if these are just defective products or what, otherwise the boat is sick just need to get a dry suit so i can ride in the cold weather.

17 speaker rockin' sound system, custom trailer, custom boat cover, swivel board racks, 4000lbs of ballast, no fat sack addition EVER needed, the boat simply rocks. I'm in the Houston area so hit me up any time. my website:flv to mp4 converter

… You can't change the songs or really control anything from the head unit. Not that big of a deal, but what's the point of having an ipod dock if you can't control your ipod. Also, the Transom speakers are a great idea in theory, but regardless of the brand or quality of any speaker, you're never going to hear a waterproof coaxial speaker 80' back. It works great for surfing, but anything beyond 20-30 feet back you can't hear the tunes. I'm considering getting some Wetsound cannons for the tower along the way since you need compression horn design speakers to reach 80 feet out. Unfortunately you can't put those types of speakers in the transom since they're not water proof due to their funneling characteristics. Luckily there are two amps and half of the second amp is not being utilized so it'll be a piece of cake adding some tower speakers if need be. Almost forgot to mention this, but the rubber matted floor is an awesome feature. You still have carpet under the seats and in all the storage compartments for a nice clean finished look, but in the main cabin area it's all soft rubber. It feels great on the toes, super grippy, and by far the easiest thing to clean compared to carpet. With the drain holes, I can just hose it out like a center console fishing boat and I'm good to go.

So over all, for an amazing quality build, extremely high performance dual rudder system/engine, 17 speaker rockin' sound system, custom trailer, custom boat cover, swivel board racks, 4000lbs of ballast, no fat sack addition EVER needed, the boat simply rocks. I'm in the Houston area so hit me up any time you'd like a pull or just want to check it out.
