In my opinion it is a bit unfair to end a contest in such a fashion. I hope that the women competing were treated fairly and with respect and were properly informed of your manner in selecting a winner. Mary & Leah you obviously have a tremendous support network and fan base. Although this "contest" was a bust, with a following like yours, you two shall succeed in all walks of life. Best of Luck.
Agreed. Props to Mary and Leah for having such wonderful support networks. This contest was extremely disappointing, but it is great to see two beautiful girls have such a wonderful following. I wish you both the best of luck and I know in the future you will succeed in a contest that is not, as Rich so PC put it, a 'Bust' (I would call it bull sh*t myself…). I am so sorry that u both worked so hard only to have someone that did not work at all win.

As a female wakeboarder, i think that to even be in this contest, you should have to know how to wakeboard and be good at it. Just because you're hot doesn't mean you should win. You need to know the sport your repping.
of course the winner should be hot. if this were a wakeboarding contest then all the girls would be pro wakeboarders. besides, anyone that wins can educate themselves on wakeboarding… that way they know all about what they are repping.

It's wonderful how you're all personally involved in the voting; however, this contest is about advertising the product. The one with the largest fan base will win and create the largest sales for this magazine. It's all about the $$$ and being good looking is generally what increases sales. If I were to hire one of these lovely ladies it will be the one that raises the most awareness about my product. I've researched these types of contests, and noticed that Mary has always been at the top percentages– she definately sells a product well, she is a money-maker. In my opinion, all of the girls are very good looking and will do well in all that they do. I wish them all the best of luck.

Script Detector– no one wrote a script for her; Mary just has a very large, devoted fan base. Not like it matters, apparently they had picked a winner before the contest even begun. I am extremely disappointed in TransWorld for making us all think that the woman we were voting for had a chance. Why have people spend the time voting and spreading the word if it isnt going to matter?????
I agree, my exgirlfriend was "miss november" in 2009, but that whole contest was a joke. I think this whole contest is just to up-up TW's publicity. Sad that they coax girls into actually hoping for a chance and break to rep something that means a lot to them. I've discontinued my subscription to this magazine.

All this talk about experience vs inexperience is interesting. But what's wrong with opening people's eyes to wake boarding, which someone new to the sport with a different fan base, can do?
The whole point is to have a hot girl who wakeboards because whoever wins the contest gets to have a photo shoot and gets to ride behind a new boat. Why would they want to waste time teaching someone? The winner should be someone who is already involved in the sport. Who cares about having a different fan base..thats not the point.
I dont think the whole point is to have a girl that already boards. There are tons of mags that show a model doing a sport that in real life she doesnt know how to do. The point is to have a girl that LOOKS like she is athletic and can board, and that is a gorgeous girl that people want to look at and read about.
No one likes a poser. By having the winner be someone who doesnt even board they are just posing and thats not cool. Core wakeboarders dont want to see someone like that, they make fun of people like that. I think experience does matter or the guy who wrote the article wouldnt have added that to each girls profile.

this is a MODELING contest. if it were a BOARDING contest then it would be manatory for all the girls to wakeboard. all this talk about the girls that cannot wakeboard is a little ridiculous and a little insulting.
this is for a WAKEBOARDING magazine and you obviously dont board because you are missing the whole point of the contest, you need to go to the first page and read what the winner wins…. they win a photo shoot and get to RIDE behind a new boat, theres no point in picking someone who doesnt RIDE…..if it were just a modeling contest they would just get the photo shoot and thats it…..and its not "ridiculous" and "insulting" to say that they cant board, Its just stating facts.
I agree. Wouldn't it be great to get people interested in wake-boarding by having them watch the winner learn? They can post videos on the website, along with photos of the hot chick!
I dont think the point in all this is to get more people interested in wakeboarding, I think readers would rather see someone who somewhat knows what they are doing than someone who doesnt have a clue. Posting videos of someone learning would be boring. No one wants to watch someone fall on their @$$ countless times, they would rather see someone shred.

yes all the Women are hot in the contest but when you are trying to win this for a Wakeboarding magazine then you should have the looks and skill. I used to board with Leah back before we could even drive! This chick has the skills on the water! She is by far the most experienced rider in this contest and I don't think you get much hotter than Leah..hands down should be the winner, has my vote for sure..don't want somebody to think this is a "fake" post so I have no problem signing it!

Unless people personally know ALL the girls… it's really immature to sit here and post comments about Leah being the only girl who can wakeboard… I find it hard to believe that many people know each girl personally… Sounds to me like everyone is immature or it's just Leah posting comments about herself using fake names to look better and get more votes… I think all of the girls are beautiful!!!
This is Leah. No I am not posting fake comments about myself. Thats really lame that you would even think anyone would do that. The reason people are commenting about me is because this is a contest for a WAKEBOARDING magazine and I have been wakeboarding longer than the other girls and have pictures of me riding and my setup and stuff, thats all anyone is trying to say.

People are posting in support of Leah cause she is a great girl, looks good in a bikini and is a wakeboarder too! We vote for Leah because that's who we want to see as Miss TRANSWorld Wakeboard! What else could you ask for as Miss October? And the more people find out about Leah the more they want everyone else to vote for her. Good luck Leah, you got my vote!

Wow someone is a d-bag. Focus on the positives and vote for the one that you LIKE, not rag on the ONE that you don't. My vote was to Leah for all kinds of reasons including that she's an old friend of mine and deserves it. She's been wakeboarding since we were in middle school AND she looks ah-mazing. I'm not going to list off reasons and pick on one of the other girls who I didn't vote for. Thats just really rude and frankly, kind of sadistic. Post your picture on here and we'll stack you up with some other guys. We'll state our opinion clearly by voting for them, but just to add insult to injury, we'll talk about how ugly YOU are, and not talk about the positives of why we voted for the other people because it's so much fun to make people feel like crap. The difference in this contest and others like it is that your opinion of a person is represented through VOTING. No more NEEDS to be said. But you and others like you decided to go above and beyond the realm of that and decided to SAY things, even though your opinion was really already said through your vote. Just wanted you to realize that on a PERSONAL level, what you said hurt her feelings. NOTHING had to be said. Nada. But since you said it, it makes you sadistic (adjective. From the word sadism noun. Definitions include delight in cruelty and excessive cruelty) and a d-bag (noun. Offensive person). If she lost, it's clear what has been said. To call someone not as attractive as the other girls, and not buy the magazine if she was on the cover is saying she's the ugliest girl out of them all. It's like you're judging a dog show to me, not a contest with human beings. They are one in the same. I think it helps if you know someone on a personal level, but like I stated before, I had other more important reasons for voting for her. If she couldn't board, I wouldn't vote for her because she would have no reason being in the contest to me. I didn't call you ugly, my dear, and I truly apologize if it hurt your feelings. My opinion still stands even more so, and I have another one to add. Although I just got done fixing dinner, doing yoga, having a drink with some friends and watching a movie with my husband, I do need to get more of a life. We both do if we're posting messages on a wakeboarding comment board.

It was a great way to promote women who are hanging in and killing it, in what's mostly a man's sport. So it's beyond me that most of the finalists for this month barely wakeboard. For me it's a clear choice: LEAH! The only real wakeboarder.
