Lindsey Harrod is no stranger to TransWorld readers. The 22-year-old Southern California model is a former TransWorld Motocross centerfold and has appeared on wakeboardingmag.com a number of times, thanks to her work with Crispy Bikinis. In fact, when Harrod made it to the finals of MAXIM‘s Hometown Hotties contest last year, we threw our support behind the beautiful self-taught wakeboarder. Harrod fell short of the Hometown Hotties crown, but MAXIM‘s loss is TransWorld WAKEBOARDING‘s gain. As Miss TransWorld WAKEBOARDING February 2011, Harrod is now a finalist for the overall Miss TransWorld WAKEBOARDING 2011 title.
You taught yourself to wakeboard when you were 12, right? How often did you get to ride growing up? Yes, I taught myself to wakeboard when I was 12. I’ve been going to the river since I could remember, literally, so I’d ride every summer. We usually made about 10 trips every year. One summer we went to the river every weekend.
If you were going to wakeboard today, where would you go? We’ll, I’ve grown up going to Parker, Arizona, so I’d have to claim there as my stomping grounds. Either there or Canyon Lake because it’s convenient.
What was the best part about working in a wake shop? The guys…? just kidding! I was the only girl that worked there though. I’d have to say really just learning the logistics of the sport. When I first started I’d be like, “A tantrum? What?”
You already modeled for TransWorld in the past, right? Yes, I’ve modeled for TransWorld a few times. I was a centerfold in Transworld Motocross and have been featured on TransWorld WAKEBOARDING numerous times. Great experience and nothing but great support from TransWorld. I love that they support the local talent
Which of the TransWorld sports are you most interested in and why? I’m an action sports junkie. I love it all — wake, skate, surf, moto. Wakeboarding, I can definitely relate to the most, but I also worked in the motocross industry for years, so I have a direct interest in that too.
You were a finalist in MAXIM‘s Hometown Hotties contest last year. Do you know where you finished in the final voting and are you still doing any Hotties-related work? We don’t know how we finished in the final voting, no. But I’m ecstatic and humbled that I made it to the top 10. And yes, I’m still doing some Hotties-related work, I recently hosted MAXIM‘s Super Bowl kickoff party at Stinagree in San Diego. It was a blast.
