Wakeboard Boat Review
The Super Air Nautique 230 is a former flagship and has been a cornerstone in the wake line for almost a decade. If you’re looking for a boat that churns wakeboard and especially surf wakes, but you’re not ready to go all-in on a G23, this boat is for you.
The 230 gives you some tiered options. If you need a bigger engine, better audio or more ballast, then you pay more for it. If you don’t need anything more than stock in a given category, then you pay less. The Nautique Surf System (NSS) is technically an option, but we say go for it. Nautique tweaked the hull a few years ago to work better with NSS, and it made a huge difference in bringing the 230 up a few notches for surfing. For 2016 Nautique has Surf Select, which, with the Surf Switch, puts the surfer in control of when the wave will switch, and with NSS switching three times faster than before, this system will get your transfers dialed. For total control, opt for the Pebble Watch app and you’ll be able to tweak NSS, your music and speed while you’re on the wave. New PCM engines with direct injection bring the 230’s power plant to new heights. Designed specifically for water sports, direct injection and variable valve timing deliver more optimal torque and response.
