Wakeboard Boat Review
Pros have it as their personal wakeboard boat. Schools use it. Tournaments run it. The Malibu Wakesetter VLX is the definition of flagship wakeboard boat. Sure, the wakes are high-class, top-caliber, primo, whatever you want to call them. But this wakeboard boat is also a very manageable size, so you can trailer it easily and run it without burning up tanks and tanks of gas. Just having the Malibu Boats name on it counts for a lot, too. The company has a reputation for making among the best-constructed wakeboard boats anywhere. For 2006, the Malibu VLX has even more potential with the new Power Wedge. It’s an option – just get it. The wakes become even more tailor-made. Just another reason why the Malibu VLX is a total, undeniable flagship.
Ballast system
Consider the optional 350-pound bow tank along with the standard center and rear ones for 1,250 total.
Illusion X Tower
Can’t say enough about this. Total new-school look. Pure style but lots of function, with high visibility.
Power Wedge
With five settings hydraulically controlled from the dash, dial in wakes with this optional must-have.
Precision Pro Speed Control
Every Malibu engine comes standard with this new cruise control. Easy to use. Super-consistent.
In-dash Graphical LCD
Find the info you need zipping through about 15 boat readings with a screen you can always read.
Wake Shape
It doesn’t even need to be said that these are pro-level wakes. That’s a given. What is worth pointing out is how well the Malibu Power Wedge enhances the VLX’s versatility. Fresh from the factory, you can load up the ballast for plus-size wakes and activate the Wedge to adjust the wake for your style. The mellow transition makes edging easy, yet there’s still a perfect ramp with a solid kick. You may never see a landing zone this ideal. It’s all good for any-level rider.
