Orlando, FL – The biggest surprise of the Air Nautique Pan American Wakeboard Championships came on Saturday at Orlando WaterSports Complex when 2005 X Games and Wakeboard National Champion, Danny Harf failed to qualify in the Pro Men’s Quarterfinals.
Harf has been on a tear of late, winning the last three events in the KING OF WAKE Wakeboard World Cup. His absence opens the door for another rider to take the Pan American Championship. Sixteen of the world’s top pro men moved on to the semifinals out of Saturday’s Quarterfinal heats.
Notables who will appear in the Pan American Pro Men’s Semifinals on Sunday at Orlando WaterSports Complex include Tino Santori, Chad Sharpe, Erik Ruck, Brett Eisenhauer, Jeff Weatherall, Phillip Soven, Josh Sanders and Daniel Watkins, all of whom finished first in their Heats.
In the Pro Women’s Semifinals, four riders moved into Sunday’s Finals. Dallas Friday and Emily Copeland Durham won their Semifinal heats to earn the top spots in the finals. Tara Hamilton and Maeghan Major will join them in the finals.
In the Pro Wakeskate Semifinals Reed Hansen and Phillip Basino won their heats to take the top two spots into Sunday’s Finals. Jeff Engen and George Daniels will also move into the Finals on Sunday.
Sunday will be the biggest day at the Air Nautique Pan American Wakeboard Championships with seven championships awarded on the day. The day will start with the Junior Women’s Finals at 9 a.m. followed by the Junior Boys Finals, Boys Finals and Junior Men’s Finals. The professional finals begin at 1:45 p.m. with the Pro Women’s Finals followed by the Pro Wakeskate Finals and the Pro Men’s Finals.
