Orlando, FL – The World Wakeboard Association (WWA) announced today that Skier’s Choice has entered into a multi-year agreement with the WWA that designates Supra boats as the official towboat of the WWA World Wakeboard Championships.
Skier’s Choice is proud to be the official towboat of the WWA World Wakeboard Championships and Gravity Games H2O, the two largest international wakeboard competitions in their own right.
“We consider the WWA World Wakeboard Championships to be one of the two most important annual international wakeboarding competitions. We are proud to have been chosen by the WWA to pull this prestigious event. As importantly, we are glad to give back to the sport which we love,” stated Rick Tinker, President of Skier’s Choice.
While Skier’s Choice continues to raise the bar by sponsoring wakeboarding events globally, they put themselves in a position to receive critical response from some of the most admired and respected riders in the industry.
“The feedback we get from riders is an invaluable part of our product development process. Sponsorship of a premier event like the WWA World Wakeboard Championships allows us to plug into the core of the market,” said Matt Brown, Product Development Manager of Skier’s Choice.
Although the benefits of sponsoring such a large and prestigious event are clear, it is not the goal of Skier’s Choice to only stay within the boundaries of such. “Between the WWA World Wakeboard Championships and the 2006 Gravity Games H2O event, we are among the very few boat-building companies that can truly say that we pull riders at every competitive skill level. That speaks well of our boats, and speaks well of our companies deep seated roots in the tournament tow boat market,” said Michael Littman, Marketing Director of Skier’s Choice.
The WWA sees this partnership as being very beneficial to Skier’s Choice as they will continue to establish themselves as a global leader in the towboat manufacturing industry. “We are very excited to have Supra on board for the WWA World Wakeboard Championships, and as we look forward to the 2007 season we couldn’t be happier with the amount of support that Skier’s Choice has put into the wakeboarding industry,” stated Shannon Starling WWA President.
The WWA developed the wakeboarding industry’s most prestigious wakeboard event in 1989. The season-ending World Championships has always included the world’s best wakeboarders. Past Champions include Scott Byerly, Shaun Murray, Darin Shapiro, Parks Bonifay, and last year’s champion Andrew Adkison. That being said, the WWA looks to continue the tradition of the World Wakeboard Championships by producing a premier event that showcases the talents of all of the sport’s most progressive riders.
“As we have done in the past, we at the WWA want to bring the most innovative riders into the limelight to display exactly where they are taking our sport. The evolution of wakeboarding can be seen throughout the timeline of the WWA World Wakeboard Championships” said Shawn Perry, Sponsorship Sales and Events Manager of the WWA. The WWA World Wakeboard Championships is the global leader, and sets the standard for professional competitive wakeboarding.
“Growth for such an event as World’s is not only necessary, but inevitable. As more individuals across the globe begin riding and pushing each other, the more an event like World’s becomes crucial to the sport” stated Shawn Perry.
