This is the year for pro women’s wakeboarding, because 2008 is the first time ever that female riders have a series to call their own: the Queen of Wake. Helping further the progression of pro women’s wakeboarding, the Queen of Wake series organizers, World Sports & Marketing, announced today that Mona Vie will sponsor the Queen of Wake Rookie of the Year Award.
The Mona Vie Queen of Wake Rookie of the Year Award is a $2,500 cash bonus given to the most outstanding female rider of rookie status competing in the Queen of Wake series. The winner will be chosen by Queen of Wake officials and presented with a trophy and a cash bonus at the end of the nine-event series.
“By sponsoring this award, Mona Vie has stepped up once again, proving its dedication toward pro women’s wakeboarding,” said Queen of Wake series Chief Judge Chris Bischoff. “This award will encourage more young talent to turn pro and provides an extra incentive for female rookie riders to step up their riding.”
The Queen of Wake series, presented by Mona Vie, is a nine-event professional wakeboarding circuit for female riders that will tour with the men’s King of Wake series. The inaugural Queen of Wake season will mark the first time that pro women’s wakeboarding will be featured at all nine King of Wake events, with a series title for pro women and a $10,000 bonus for the overall winner crowned Queen of Wake.
Riders from across the globe, including New Zealand, Australia, the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States, are expected to compete for the inaugural Queen of Wake crown.
Mona Vie is the official nutritional drink provider and presenting sponsor of the Pro Women’s Division of the Pro Wakeboard Tour, and the presenting sponsor of the Queen of Wake series.
