The US’s newest cable park — Wake Nation Cincinnati — opened 10 a.m. Sunday, May 2 in Fairfield’s Joyce Park.
In case you haven’t been to a cable park, here’s a little background information: At Wake Nation, riders can wakeboard and wakeskate by being pulled across a smooth, 10-acre lake by an overhead cable-pulley system.
Wake Nation Cincinnati is the only cable watersports park in the Midwest, the next closest being KC Watersports more than 600 miles away, in Kansas City. There are only six other cable waterparks in the entire U.S., most of them in Florida and Texas.
Wake Nation will be open daily at 10 a.m. and close at dark all summer long through October. Boards and wetsuits will be available for rent at the park.
Wake Nation is a “pay-as-you-play” facility. Parking and admission to water sports complex are free, including access to an outdoor 3,000 square foot observation deck that offers a panoramic view of the entire lake area. And, from May 3-July 3, riders also get their first hour of “water time” FREE (a $20 value.) To receive the first hour of water time at no charge, visitors must bring a coupon, which can be printed out from the Wake Nation website at wakenation.com.
Cable passes are normally available in one hour ($20), two hour ($25), four hour ($30) and all-day ($35) increments.
Wake Nation’ is located at 201 Joe Nuxhall Way in ‘Fairfield.
