Harley Clifford won the 2009 MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour season title Sunday, becoming only the second rider ever to win the overall title in his rookie year. Wakeboarding legend Parks Bonifay won the PWT season title in his rookie season in 1996.
Clifford finished on the podium at all five stops of the 2009 MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour, winning the opening stop in Ft. Worth before landing second at the next three PWT events. The 15-year-old Australian’s third-place at the PWT finale in Reno, Nevada, gave him enough points to beat out Aaron Rathy and Phillip Soven for the seaon title. Rathy and Soven finished second and third respectively in the season standings.
