Gekko boats are back in production, being built in Tennessee. For 2014 four Gekko models are planned and the Gekkos are scheduled to begin shipping within 60 days. Production is starting with Gekko’s 22′ REVO 6.7 V drive and will expand to the 23′ REVO 7.1 V drive followed by the company’s GTR 22 and GTS 20 direct drive models.
Street pricing on the new Gekko V drives is expected to start at about $58,000 with 330HP Indmar engines. Pricing on Gekko’s GTR 22 world championship towboat opens at $42,000 and company management is working to bring the GTS 20 back at a sub $30,000 price point.
Founded in 1994, Gekko has consistently earned high marks as a world class performer since its inception and has pulled tournaments around the world including world championship events. Fresh thinking fused with a passionate approach to tow boat design and function has won Gekko a global following.
Recently Gekko’s assets were re-acquired by Gekko founder Mark Overbye who has teamed with Ebbtide Boats based in White Bluff, Tennessee for Gekko production. “Ebbtide has been building quality boats for over 40 years and is known the world over as a solid builder with a great reputation. We’re thrilled to be building Gekkos again and we have fresh line up for 2014 with new Indmar engines, new interiors, towers, dashes, graphics, ballast and more. Our passion for water sports will be very evident in the 2014 collection”, comments Overbye.
Gekko’s 2014 models will feature the latest technologies including digital throttle controls, standard speed control with Zero Off option, Fusion stereos with wireless bluetooth connectivity, top end steering systems, a unique tower design and automotive touches that are expected to make the product stand out and represent a superior value being true to Gekko’s culture.
