Five years back nobody was rising to the top of wakeboarding faster than Graeme Burress. He was traveling the world, scoring covers of magazines (this one included), winning contests like the acclaimed Shredtown Jamboree, and even earning a pro model board from Hyperlite.
Then, as quickly as it came, it all went away. Graeme found himself inside a mental storm he could no longer navigate. Rock bottom came hard and fast, and it took the strength of family, friends, and some serious soul-searching to start making the climb back up.
But make the climb, he did. Graeme is back to the riding and attitude that propelled him into the spotlight years ago, and our sport is better of for it. With creative park riding and mind-blowing winch hits, it’s easy to see what makes Graeme and his wakeboarding so unique.
This year filmmaker and fellow Hyperlite rider Trever Maur followed along with Graeme to create the latest “Insight” series. It takes a look at Graeme’s past, the success and the pitfalls, his process, and ultimately his comeback.
